Steel ( for construction)

Steel is traditionally most commenly used as reinforcement in concrete.
It is the ideal combination with concrete.

Motivation phase
Steel as reinforcement.

In the video below you can see how rebar is placed for the floor slab, with the guard rods for the columms.

Information phase
Reinforcement steel, nets and fibres.

> Types of reinforced steel:
• Steel fibres
• Synthetic fibres
• Reinforcing bars.
• Reinforcement nets.
• Reinforcement beams.
Subdivided into single and double net, smooth and serrated bars.
* Properties:
• Absorbs tensile forces
• In combination with concrete that absorbs compressive forces, it prevents cracking or greatly reduces this.
* Use for floors:
• Single net
Thickness >120MM
Armament Diameter 6-200mm or diameter 6 – 150mm
Joint spacing Indoor/outdoor floor fields max. 140m²
Advantages Less concrete consumption
Relatively cheap
Limited shrinkage cracking
Coupling of floor fields
Disadvantages No constructive value
No redistribution of tensions
Risk of deformation at minimum thickness
•Double net:
Thickness >150mm
Armament Diameter 7 – 150 mm
Joint spacing Indoor/outdoor floor fields max. 400m²
Advantages Less concrete consumption
Maximum limitation of cracking
Suitable for heavy loads
No deformation of concrete
High durability
Disadvantages Relatively expensive
High concentration of reinforcement on jointless floor
Always need work floor and/or pavement layer
•Steel fibres:
Thickness >120mm
Dosage >25kg/m³
Joint spacing Indoor floor fields: max. 50m²
Outdoor floor fields: max.25m²
Advantages Easy and quick to install
No chance of reinforcement errors
Less concrete consumption
Farhoging flexural tensile strength – fewer cracks
High bending toughness – fewer cracks
High wear resistance of the surface
Disatvantages No applicable to under heath floors
Surface fibres can corrode
No redistribution of tensions
Fibres visible in top layer
No applicable to any surface
