Measuring transducers and sensors
This DLP deals with Measuring transducers and sensors. It gives a detail insight into what they are and how are they used in automation.
Look at the table and deduce the types of measuring transducers

Actuators – convert electricity into mechanical work – convert some form of energy (except mechanical) or vice versa.
Sensors into electrical and enable its quantification (determination of numerical values of physical quantity = measurement).
Indicators – electrical converters that only indicate the presence of some form of energy, but do not allow its quantification or the error of that quantification is unacceptably large (eg>5%).
Although the term converter is commonly used to denote a sensor or detector, in fact, any device that converts energy can be considered a converter. Converters are e.g. they are widely used in measuring instruments and are named after the forms of energy between which the transformation takes place. Thus e.g. there are thermo-electrical, chemical-acoustic, tense-magnetic, etc.
