Installation of lintels and concrete beams in the inner cavity wall and walls.

This learning path gives us an insight into the placement of lintels and concrete beams in the inner cavity leaf and in the interior walls.

Motivation phase
Lintels and concrete beams.

In the following images you can see a number of lintels and concrete beams.

Information phase
Choose the right material and dimensions, installation stalton lintels & installationn concrete beam above a window opening.

1: Choosing the right materials is very important, as are the right dimensions.
For an ordinary house, a stable slate is enough; for larger buildings it is better to use concrete beams.
Stalton lintels and concrete beams come in a variety of sizes.
The width of the stalton lintel is equal to the width of the walls, this is also true for the concrete beams.
Concrete beams are usually prefbricated.
Stalton slates can be cut in different lengths, from 1000mm to 3000mm.
2: Installation stalton lintels:
The placement of stalton lintels is very important, especially with regard to the imposition along both sides of the wall.
*Bricklaying to the desired height
*Laying the stalton on a layer of mortar.
*A 2x15cm support for a length of 2.15m and 2x20cm for larger spans.
*Provide a central strut
*Mason directly on the wet lintel
*Filling the vertical joints well
Very important: the masonry and lintel must from one whole
3: Installation of concrete beam above a window opening:
Precast concrete beams above window openings are usually placed on larger buildings.
The bearing depends on the width of the span and the compressive and tensile strength.
The calculation of the engineer is of vital importance here.
The imposition at window openings of larger buildings is at least 15cm.
Of course we speak here of reinforced concrete beams.
