This video shows how these students measure out and plot their work piece.
Information phase
Measuring and plotting a work piece, cavity wall.
1: What tools do we need?
* A tape measure/folding gauge, a mason's pencil, a long driving rod/smithing string, profiles, mason's wire, plumb line, level.
2: Phase 1:
*From the reference point( façade of the little office), the building line is fixed at 2.50m.
*The building line is the façade or exterior cavity wall.
*From the projection( next to the gate), the distance is 2m.
*The length of the wall is 5m from the 2m previously measured from the projection at the gate.
>Implementation:
*Students mark off 3 reference points at the ground.
*Then they mark off the building line using a long driving ruler and mason's pencil. You can also use a throttling cord.
*From the building line, students will now measure the interior wall of interior cavity wall.
*The total width of the cavity wall is 0.36m.
*From the construction line, students will now draw the line of the interior cavity wall.
*After marking off, the profiles are placed at the ends of the wall.
*They use triango profiles for the purpose.
*The should be placed plumb using the spirit level and plumb.
>Practical implementation phase 1:
* 1: Draw the 3 reference lines on the ground.
*Draw the construction line, use a long ruler and mason's pencil.
*2: Determine the position of the interior cavity wall relative to the building line.
*Draw the line of the exterior cavity wall.
*Draw the line off the interior cavity wall.
*Respect the required total cavity wall width, in this case 0.36m.
*3: Place the profiles at the ends of the wall
*Use triangulated profiles.
*Place the profiles plumb, use a level and plumb.
